Budget collaboration facilitates the creation and management of matter budgets between corporate legal departments and their outside counsel law firms. Using AIMS, the corporate client requests a matter budget and an email notification is sent to the law firm with a link to ShareDoc, the DataCert web portal for e-invoice delivery, reporting and budgeting. The law firm simply enters the requested budget information and submits it to the client for approval, streamlining the budget request process and eliminating time consuming phone calls and emails.

In addition to improving efficiency and enhancing communication between corporations and their law firms, budget collaboration enables more effective spend management. Corporate legal departments can use AIMS as a single source for managing matter budgets and tracking against actuals. They can also request budget updates from a law firm throughout the life of a project, allowing them to more effectively measure the firm's performance against budget and avoid surprise variances.
